Bill,

There you go again. You give the round, but you take away the savor of victory with other completely false and more misleading innuendos (even blatantly untrue in one instance)...for no reason other than to try to discredit and shove us into oblivion in order to stifle what must be begining to be perceived as a legitimate threat (challenge?) to your marketing efforts.

40 years ago, Fidel Castro assassinated all of his staunchest political supporters after becoming the main dude in Cuba, for fear that anyone strong enough to put him into office would be strong enough to take him out of office. The difference here is, Bill B., I didn’t put you in office (didn’t get to vote), and I don't want you out; I just want to have a good tape recorder ready when you kick in a few more concessions and a few more lights turn on for you (and when Robert Bruss names ME as the smartest man in the US). The last time you and I got into one of these brouhahas, you didn't even know we had attorneys (and when you found out, you backed off).

Furthermore, it honestly is a fact that your Mom did NOT attend my L.A. seminar as you say she did. I was there! She was well outside of the meeting room for the morning (calculating the take for the day), and out of the building for the afternoon, kindly apologizing for not being able to sit in, due to her upcoming European trip. If she caught an hour of the workshop, I'd be surprised…though I'll admit that anyone would be confused after hearing six unrelated ten minutes segments of a hard hitting workshop that takes concentration over eight hours for everyone else.

Did you ever think that her saying she was confused was just her loving way of saying, "Son, I love you despite the fact that there's a teensy weensy chance that your programs may no longer be as up to date as we might have thought they were. This guy Gatten went over pretty well here, and there were a few attorneys in the room who agree with him, and a bunch of folks who are asking to have him back again."

Bill...some of the above is obviously tongue in cheek, but in all seriousness your Mom did not attend and was well out of earshot. And, for the record, I have nothing against you, your programs or the way you teach (you’re pretty good as as matter of fact). Although I think you border on giving the wrong advice at times without warnings re. some pretty dangerous tactics in the business, with the only caveat being that "they will probably never find out." I.e., straw man dealings, lop-sided documentation process; due on sale cheating; concealing information by not letting the buyer have all the facts of your intentions or motives, and not letting the seller have all the pertinent details of your sale, etc. You'll say it's none of their business, and you'll be right until it turns out that say that if they'd known what you were up to, they'd have fared much better by doing it themselves without you (...Bill, I'll ease up when you do, but thanks for one concession anyway).

Here are my concessions to you: your program is no worse than anyone else’s who may be less than fully conversant on the PACTrust; your documents are quite good; your knowledge and use of land contracts is superb; you are younger and better looking that I (but so is Jim Piper, and that’s really not saying much, is it); you get invited more places than I do and you’re fairly humble (even likeable) when talking face-to-face. Oh yeah, and you’re a lawyer and I’m not.

How many years have you been practicing, by the way?

Bill Gatten
