Except in CA where the state is cutting those same kinds of subsidies because states don't have the power to actually print more money (I'm sure they looked into how they might get away with this). Yesterday's paper (not the Chron) had a front page story on the reduction of low income renters exemption to the state income tax netting $197 million in savings (and a far cry from the $14 billion they have to come up with). There is already on corp HQ in downtown Oakland (has its own building) that announced they would close the HQ by year's end and relocate quote "where costs of doing business are lower). They are a shipping company, but the HQ does not need to be near a port. I hear (from insiders) that they are considering a right to work state (they are infested with longshoremen and the excessive wage and benefits packages the Union brings). They could even go to Rosarito which is still a coastal location but the bribe costs in Mexico are a LOT lower than taxes in CA.
