You don't need the US Air credit card to do this. I have an American Express card that gives me Hilton Honors points and/or airline miles on the frequent flyer program of my choice. The AMEX card has no annual fee.
If saving your frequent flyer miles is the goal here, get a credit card that you will use anyway which also has frequest flyer mile rewards.
