I am considering getting an airline credit card to take advantage of the frequent flyer miles. On the application it asks whether I am employed or retired. Here is my dilemma.
My wife and I own a small business and some rental property. Since I am over 66 I draw SS and no longer pull any income from the shop. I still work full time but put all the money into the spouse's salary so as to increase her SS benefits when she reaches 67. I feel this is best as she will probably outlive me by 10 - 20 years.
So, on the application, should I check off "employed" or "retired"? Which would be most beneficial to me? It might seem there would be little difference but there must be some reason for the distinction. My credit is excellent.
Any opinions?
Thanks in advance.Sam Heatom
