The biggest consideration is the amperage of the electric panel. Here we use electric almost exclusively which usually requires a 200 amp panel although we have some with 150 amp panels.
I would imagine that your panel may be lower so check into it. Upgrading the panel is not a cheap alternative in my area as this usually means we have to upgrade the exterior pole/panel.
