Georgia D ..before I would abandon the home why not try to get something out it. If you own it free and clear you should be able to sell for say $10 to $15 thousand giving someone a good deal and move on, not a good deal for you but better than being charged lot rent for who knows how long. Try listing on Craigslist.com in your area and explain why it's a very good deal and give them a name and number to call for information about the home. Even in this mess their are people looking for a nice home and you only need to find the right one. If you still owe money on this home then the figure you want could change but should still provide a very good deal for the buyer because you have little time to hold on. Good Luck.
