Anne I bomb the under side of the home using the cheap raid cans, I do this more to drive the roaches in to the home so they don't spread when I hit the inside. (make sure you still turn off all pilot lights) I personally will not rent a home with roaches present, they are much easier to kill off in a vacant home! As an added bonus I recently found out that here in NC landlords are only responsible to treat twice at our expense if they were not present at move in... aka someone brings bugs with them I treat twice at 2 week intervals and then it can be billed back to the tenant.
