Totally sold on pex.
If the home has anything else, it gets ripped out immediately. Like Tony said, a couple of hundred bucks and a days work. I've actually found that I enjoy it.
I also replace fixtures at the same time, and usually the toilet. (Another couple of hundred bucks, total.)
*** If you go with one of the 'cheapie' toilets (toilet-in-a-box, etc. - spend an extra $20 and put new guts in it before installing it. The guts they include are pure junk, and probably won't last six months.)
At the same time, spend $15 and replace the water heater elements.
That money spent comes back in peace of mind, as I have virtually zero maintenance issues after doing it.
