Nearly every home I buy has broken pipes. I now just assume that the pipes are broken going into the deal.

I do all the plumbing repairs myself. With the right tools, this isn't really a problem and a total replumb can be done for a few hundred bucks in materials.

If you have to pay someone to do it (like I did at first) it typically ran me over a grand for a total replumb and then I still had to go back and replace the insulation and vapor barier myself.
