One of the things you can do when you first get started is to get your real estate license. In some states they now allow beginners to get their broker's license, as opposed to just an agent's license, with a little more study. Getting a license will do two things for you: it will familiarize you with the basics of real estate; and, more importantly, it will give you a chance to earn a commission to help you with a down payment on your first property.Having said that, I now prefer to work with other agents for their market expertise. Since I'm past the beginners phase (in some ways), I think my time is better spent enlisting the help of people who have have devoted themselves to the marketing of real estate.
